Instead of making Resolutions, try making challenges that you will try to achieve some point in the year. Nobody is really up for the challenge on January 1st after an epic New Years party, a lot of drinks and probably much food. You wake up either hung over with a bowl of sausage rolls in your bed, vomiting them up or tired from a very late night, some people probably hadn't even gone to bed yet.
There is still loads of Christmas food left over so people who have decided to lose weight have so much temptation it's impossible. Some say you can throw it away but come on and think for a minute, that's a huge waste of food that could go to feed someone who really needs it. Either invite everyone around new years day for a dinner party, donate it to homeless charities or to a neighbour who is less well off than you.
Resolutions are all well and good but they never come up to our expectations and we probably fail by the second week of January. Nobody wants a salad on new years day, they want a fry up to help the hangover go away.
This year try setting a challenge for yourself for the year, start at the end of January if you need time to get over the post festive blues and see how well you do then.
