Welcome to my baking section!
This is where I will be putting up my experiments and tried recipes. This week I was asked to bake a cake in the shape of a hat for a lost bet.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The recipe here is a Devils Food Cake with Fudge Frosting.
I had three different size tins, two 7' tins and one 9' tin.
I filled each f the tins with the normal amount of cake mixture and bakes them acorrdingly.
I made a huge mess of my kitchen.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I also made cupcakes for work with the left over mixture that I had.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once they were baked I left them to cool before I decorated them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once cooled I begin to shape how I want it to look, since it's a hat shape I didn't have to do too much. I tried to go with the colonial style hat.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once frosted on the inside I frost the outside but heating the frosting and pouring it over the cake, this creates a smooth unbroken cover of frosting that looks like rolled icing.
I used Fruit Widers for a ribbon around the hat and white chocolate icing pen to make the buckle (which sadkt ran for some reason.
The Text says "They Turned Up!!" since that is what the bet was about.

Thank you for reading.
