Musical Mondays - The Sound of Music

Welcome to Musical Mondays!
In this post I pick a musical to talk about, tell you how it makes me feel and recall stories that grew up around it.
This weeks musical is The Sound of Music.
Obviously If you haven't seen the film there may be and there may not be spoilers to the film depending on what you count as a spoiler.
**So Possible Spoiler Alert**

I remember the beginning of this film like I had only just watched and caught myself singing it in the shower a lot.

The Sound of Music is about a young woman called Maria that leaves her convent home after failing to be a nun and becoming a governess of seven children. Despite Captain Von Trapp's strictness with his children Maria cannot bring herself to treat them that way, the children's happiness soon shows even with the appearance of a step mother to be and the looming war.

Julie Andrews has always been a big part of my life, I have enjoyed her musical talent since I was small and I always will. I remember sitting on the sofa with my Mum with a blanket over us and watching this when it was raining.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My partner always takes the Micky out of this bit. The moment he kisses her and she sort of screams in happy surprise had him coming up to me randomly kissing me and screaming as he walked away.

I have always loved this song and the song gets used a lot in adverts and it was even semi covered by Big Brovaz.

Obviously it's been changed a lot but the underlying theme is the same overall.

I always thought of this being a bonding scene between Maria and the children.

Gwen Stefani's mix is a little different and only really uses the essence of the sound and the originally scene.

I always loved the little girl at the end of the sound, it's so cute!

This song always reminds me of this film very when herd from some other media. It has a sadness to it that I can't explain even though it is a charming song.

I hope you have enjoyed my little article expressing why I enjoy The Sound of Music so much.
