The October Horror Movie Challenge - Crimson Peak, Tales of Halloween, Jeepers Creepers

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Crimson Peak
In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds - and remembers. - IMDB

This pretty half and half for me. The visuals are great, the story telling and the acting is great also. This film has a great cast of incredible actors that I cannot fault at all. Sadly the story becomes predictable and you realise what is going to happen before you are even half way through.

I give this film 3 1/3 Blood Splatters out of 5

Tales of Halloween
Ten stories are woven together by their shared theme of Halloween night in an American suburb, where ghouls, imps, aliens and axe murderers appear for one night only to terrorize unsuspecting residents. - IMDB

This is a great example for when horror stories are written properly and in the right way. There are many great actors in this as well as cameos. Some stories were scarier than others and some were more horror comedy, they worked well as a set of stories and for 9 shorts you really can't fault it.

I give this film 5 Blood Splatters out 5

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jeepers Creepers
A brother and sister driving home through isolated countryside for spring break encounter a flesh-eating creature which is on the last day of its ritualistic eating spree. - IMDB

What a big bag of meh!
I had never seen this film, it had sort of past me by and since I have been trying to watch horror films I have never seen before. My goodness I feel bad for the actors in this film.

Jeepers Creepers had all the makings for what could have been a great horror but it fell to the wayside and almost felt slightly comical in places while trying to be a totally serious horror movie. Not all the visual effects had dated well and I am glad that Justin Long has broken out into his acting career and steers mostly clear of fail piles like this.

I give this film 1 Blood Splatter out of 5
and a long snooze
